Juniperus communis - Common Juniper.  Native of Central Europe through to Korea and Japan.  Male and female usually found on different plants.  Berries used for medicinal purposes etc.  1.8 metres high x 1.2 metres wide in 10 years in our Nursery/Garden.  Zone 2.

  Juniperus communis 'Compressa' - Noah's Ark Juniper.  A living miniature.  Very compact grey-green foliage. Juniperus formosana -   The Taiwan Juniper.   Native of southern China from Qinghai in the north to Yunnan in the south and Taiwan in the east.    Has a very distinct columnar habit.  Is fairly rare in cultivation.  Crown columnar and very narrow with bark grey-brown and peeling in long thin strips.  A tree to approx. 12 metres in native habitat.

Juniperus horizontalis selections

The Creeping Juniper has been used in landscaping as a very hardy groundcover with selections having been made in a range of colours.

Juniperus horizontalis 'Bar Harbor' - Native to an island in Maine, USA where it grows in crevices on the rocky coast and may well be found within reach of the salt spray.  In summer, a pleasant grey-green ground cover turning mauve in Autumn and Winter in colder areas.  This plant easily follows the contour of the ground.  25 cm high x 2 metres wide in 10 years in our Nursery/Garden.  Zone 4.
