Cupressus Species and Selections

(We 'Mail-Order' through-out New Zealand.)

Updated 02-02-2010

These are the true Cypresses which have been widely grown for their hardy constitution and are now available in a wide variety of forms.

Throughout the world conifers are found on a number of different sites but the main common feature is the ability of most species to tolerate moisture stress and to conserve water.  This is the character which unites the Saharan cypress with Mexican pines and the northern forests of Europe, Asia and America.  Moisture stress occurs in three forms, characterised by low rainfall, hot summer temperature leading to high evaporation and dry winter cold.  The largest portion of the worlds surface dominated by conifers has as main features, long and very cold dry winters, with associated drying winds and short cool summers.
