These include the Cedars of Lebanon and the Himalayan Cedar.  They are generally very hardy, resisting cold conditions and drought, but not salt winds.

Cedrus atlantica - Atlas Cedar. Native of the Atlas Mountains. Grown widely as an ornamental specimen. Will do well in poor dry soils. Often used for Bonsai. Tall Pyramidal. 5 metres high in 10 years.   Seedlings need a very dry summer & well drained site to do well.  Other areas with rain all year need to purchase Cedrus atlantica grafted onto Cedrus deodara.   This way they will survive.   Zone 6.

Cedrus atlantica 'Aurea' - Golden Atlas Cedar. Carries itself in classic Atlas Cedar style. Tips liberally dusted with a distinct golden yellow.  Needs protection from heavy salt laden wind. Erect pyramidal.  3 metres high and 2.5 metres wide in 10 years in our Nursery/Garden.  Zone 6.

Cedrus atlantica 'Fastigiata' - Leaf colour a bluish green not unlike that of 'Glauca'. Recommended where a more formal shape is required. Erect pyramidal form. 4 metres high x 3.5 metres wide in 10 years in our Nursery/Garden. Zone 6.

Cedrus atlantica 'Glauca' - Blue Atlas Cedar. A pyramidal tree with a straight trunk for the first few years, thereafter an increasing tendency to hang its lower branches. A very attractive broad pyramid. 4 metres high x 3 metres wide in 10 years in our Nursery/Garden. Zone 6.

Cedrus atlantica 'Glauca Aurea' - Distinctly different from 'Aurea'. Not quite as bright a yellow. Does not suffer from 'sun burn'. Planted in full sun has a yellow dusting over the blue foliage. 3 metres high x 3 metres wide in 10 years in our Nursery/Garden.   Zone 6.

Cedrus atlantica 'Glauca Pendula' - Must initially be trained up a stake to desired height before it is let weep. A beautiful spreading (if trained), weeping tree. 3.5 metres high x 7 metres wide in 10 years. In the second photo the strong side branches were taken out sideways and supported till they hold up on their own to create a living foliage waterfall. The annual growth of these branches would be approximately 40 cm. In the third photo this tree had been trained from an early age and shows just how extreme the training can be.

Cedrus deodara - Himalayan Cedar, Indian Cedar. A graceful tree with well furnished horizontal branches weeping at tips. Dislikes extreme salt wind. Conical. 4 metres high x 3 metres wide at base in 10 years in our Nursery/Garden.  Zone 6.

Cedrus deodara 'Aurea' - Golden Himalayan Cedar. Same pyramidal shape of the Cedrus deodara but slower in growth. 3 metres high x 2.5 metres wide in 10 years in our Nursery/Garden.  Zone 6.   We no longer grow this tree having preference for the newer cultivar Cedrus deodara 'Vink's Golden'. Photo 2 is of a hedge line in the U.S.A. showing some artistic flair.

Cedrus deodara 'Kashmir' - A sturdy and very vigorous deodara with a most unusual habit. Upright with long, strong extending branches. Very rare. 6 metres high in 10 years in our Nursery/Garden. Side branches extend out horizontally at sparse intervals up the trunk.   Each branch would be 2 metres long with tips nodding. The appearance of this tree throughout its life is extraordinary. Zone 6.

Cedrus libani 'Sargentii' - Weeping Cedar of Lebanon. A very valuable dwarf and a truly weeping form. This one needs to be trained up as a young plant to the desired height, it will then form a graceful, dome shaped bush with long curved weeping branches. Makes a wonderful tub plant. 1 metre wide in 10 years by the height during training.   Zone 7.
